Idido is the village, or kebele, where this coffee is grown and processed, located in a microregion of Yirgacheffe. Beyond its near-legendary status as the “birthplace” of Arabica coffee, there is so much to love about Ethiopia as a producing country—especially the incredible diversity of flavor and character found across its microregions. This is particularly true in the southwestern Gedeo zone of Yirgacheffe, within the Sidama region—areas whose names alone evoke some of the world’s finest coffees.
Coffee has truly thrived in the lush environment of Yirgacheffe’s forests, developing delicate floral nuances, refined sweetness, and a vibrant acidity.
At the same time, coffee has also adapted to the drier climate of Harrar, in the country’s northeast, where the varieties historically display richer, more chocolatey undertones.
